    Gulf agreement to harmonize standards for goods with South Korea
     




     





    An agreement signed by the GCC standardization organization with the Korean Agency for technology and standards called for harmonization of standards and technical regulations for products and commodities exchanged between Korea and IGAD Member States, conformity assessment and the acceptance of test reports and certification marks, and measurement and calibration.
    This came after the signing of the action plan with the Korean Agency for technology and standards for 2014, said Mulla, General Secretary of the Standardization Organization, the plan is a continuation of the implementation of the provisions of the Convention on the understanding between the Commission and the Agency in the month of November 2011, for the development of the infrastructure of standardization and quality in the Member States, benefit from the experience and expertise in infrastructure quality. He added: ' the body promotes trade among Member States for the development of the production and service sectors, and the development of exports to various world markets, to take effective measures to protect consumers from counterfeit and cheap goods and protecting public health and the environment, through the promulgation of standards and technical regulations and standardization of procedures for verifying conformity with international practices to meet the requirements of the technical barriers to trade agreement and World Trade Organization rules.
